More than half of global GDP, approximately 55% or US$58 trillion is moderately or highly dependent on nature and its services. Yet, our economic system prices nature almost at zero. The World Economic Forum estimates the annual nature financing gap by around US$700 billion, reflecting how profoundly undervalued and overlooked nature finance remains.

The WWF 2024 Living Planet Report warns that the next five years will be decisive for the stability of natural systems as the degradation of nature and biodiversity loss create cascading risks that undermine climate progress, pathway to 1.5°C, and the SDGs.
