About GEFI
GEFI is a neutral system-enabling ecosystem builder, focused on strengthening the conditions in which ethical and sustainable finance can function at scale.
We are an independent NGO, run by practitioners that understand the commercial imperatives that drive markets. This uniquely positions us as a trusted convening authority with cross-regional connectivity, and the ability to translate policy ambition into operating environments that institutions can act on.
We work with governments, regulators, financial institutions, investors, and values-based finance leaders to remove structural and coordination bottlenecks that prevent ethical and sustainable finance from scaling in practice.
Our role is to enable others to act more effectively by improving alignment between policy intent, institutional practice, and capital deployment across Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.
We measure success not by organisational growth, but by how effectively others are enabled to act, scale, and deliver outcomes.
What We Do
GEFI strengthens the operating environment for ethical and sustainable finance by acting as a neutral interface between policy, capital, and institutions. In practice, this means we deliver:
- Advocacy: research and convene through our established platform of leading global events
- Enabling environment: initiate strategic campaigns and policy and regulatory advisory
- Capacity building: develop and deliver bespoke practitioner-led executive education programmes
- Product development: support institutions to create pioneering products
Why GEFI, Why Now
The next phase of ethical and sustainable finance is defined by delivery pressure and narrative challenges.
Across regions, policy narratives are buckling, regulatory frameworks are diverging, and capital allocation remains uneven. All the while, institutions face growing expectations to demonstrate real-world impact. The challenge remains commitment, coordination, translation, and execution. GEFI exists to perform these enabling functions at a system level, during a compressed window to 2030 when the credibility and effectiveness of finance will be tested.
Our goal is to make finance work for people, planet alongside profit.
Ecosystem Building
Ecosystem building is at the core of what we do, from exploring Climate Finance at COP28 to providing a platform to foster collaborations in Faith in Finance.

Advisory & Research
Together with governments and other political players, we explore issues in depth and compile them in a way that furthers the implementation of workable and practical solutions.
SDG Financial Products
Our work goes beyond strategy and research – we also work on implementing and driving practical solutions.

Events
Focused exchanges between expert practitioners advance good ideas and drive progress.
We host a variety of events to facilitate these exchanges and drive the finance sector to become more ethical.
