December 6th and 7th, GEFI hosted two full days of technical, insightful, inspiring SDG Hive sessions at the DIFC Academy in Dubai.

With over 500 engaged stakeholders joining us, we heard from high-level technical experts and practitioners on a range of topics including the Just Transition, Financial Inclusion, SDG Investing, and Green Finance Centres. Speakers included Lord Mayor of the City of London Michael Mainelli, former Assistant-Secretary General of the UN Satya Tripathi, Founders, CEOs, and CSOs.

December 6th

  • Welcome words by Richard Mattison, Vice Chair of S&P Global, and keynote by Lord Mayor of the City of London Michael Mainelli
  • Financing the Just Transition session focused on transition finance and the energy transition, with speakers representing OMFIF, S&P Global, Africa Finance Corporation, ING, CarbonTracker, and more
  • Climate Leadership session featuring Lloyd’s Banking Group, UNEP FI, Chartered Banker Institute, and CISI
  • Financing Nature session including PlanetTracker, TNFD, Man Group, Mercer, and more

December 7th

  • SDG Investing panel with MSCI, DFSA, abrdn, and Federated Hermes with closing remarks from Vested Impact
  • The Green Finance Centres sessions with representatives from TheCityUK, Morocco, Germany, South Korea, Rwanda, and Dubai
  • Africa: Financial Inclusion with Prosperar Development Consulting, RoebiGlobal, HSBC, Ecobank, and PRI
  • In Conversation, featuring Satya Tripathi and Randa Mounir of UNFCCC Climate Change Champions

The individually focused sessions ensured deeper engagement with experts, while the intentionally smaller events allowed for participant engagement to enrich the conversations. Audience members and panelists alike shared their insights
and expertise on complex and challenging topics, meaning we achieved an uncommon degree of honesty and clarity, inspiring and encouraging all those involved.
