Focused exchanges between expert practitioners advance good ideas and drive progress.

Based in Edinburgh, the award-winning Ethical Finance Round Table series is the longest-running platform in ethical finance, bringing together the leaders in the field to enable learning and build community. Since establishing the series in 2010, we have seen opportunities flourish amongst the participants in the Round Tables. The Ethical Finance Round Table Series is currently being held virtually.

Next Event: Leadership (May 2021)

Leadership is often an overlooked factor in the drive to create socially and environmentally responsible organisations in finance and beyond. While it is easy to make bold statements about social and environmental issues, real change can only be achieved via effective leadership at all levels of an organisation, ensuring that employees are empowered and motivated to enact changes.

Our approach

  • Identify key themes for focused, technical discussions around ethical finance. See a full list of our topics.
  • Gather our unique, broad coalition of stakeholders from across finance, government, NGOs, faith groups and multilateral organisations.
  • Enable commercial opportunities by connecting people, sharing ideas and spreading best practice.

Achievements

  • Building and shaping the community of ethical finance practitioners in Scotland and across the UK.
  • Enabled commercial opportunities for our partners and participants via networking and knowledge sharing.
  • Won the prestigious Ethical Finance Innovation and Challenge Awards (EFICA) in 2015, fighting off competition from over 200 organisations.

Latest Event: Accounting for Sustainability (February 2021)

At the latest Ethical Finance Round Table, we were joined by Professor Michael Mainelli, Alderman and Sheriff of the City of London, founder of think-tank Z/Yen and qualified accountant, and Jon Williams; Partner, Sustainability and Climate Change, PwC. The discussion centred around the need for companies making commitments to net zero to truly understand what this means for their business models year on year, as well as emissions trading schemes and the need to price embed the true cost of externalities within the economic system.
