Ethical Finance GCC 2025: Capital, Climate and Community

Navigating macro trends and accelerating the transition:

Amid profound macroeconomic shifts, deglobalisation, and accelerating climate risks, financial institutions stand at a pivotal crossroads, rethinking the balance between values and value and the broader purpose of capital.

There is a clear and urgent need to redirect capital flows toward innovative climate finance solutions while still capturing compelling commercial opportunities, financing the decarbonisation of key sectors, scaling renewable energy systems, and enabling the evolution of carbon and offset markets.

Underpinning this all, arguably the most critical challenge and opportunity during the transition is placing community at the forefront and ensuring new economic systems value humanity and authenticity, where everyone can contribute and benefit from a just, inclusive, sustainable transition

Unlocking Islamic Sustainable Finance (ISF):

Islamic Sustainable Finance represents a vital transition pillar, offering a principled framework that aligns capital with climate and community priorities. With assets projected to reach USD 9.3 trillion by 2030, a strategic allocation of just 5% of Islamic finance assets toward the transition could mobilize approximately USD 400 billion by 2030, underscoring the sector’s enormous untapped potential.

The inaugural GCC summit, in partnership with DIFC, reflects GEFI’s commitment to the region, building on our extensive Path to COP28 campaign, which delivered over 27 events in the UAE. Read more about our Path to COP28 campaign>>
